Concepts

This section covers concepts that apply across multiple AccPacks. Read these before working with individual packages.

The links below point to the priint:suite documentation. Use them to get the platform background needed to understand how AccPacks integrate into priint:suite.

The AccPack pages reference these concepts in context and do not repeat platform documentation.

Getting started with priint:suite​

All the AccPacks require you to first install a Publishing Server, either on Windows or Linux. Consult Questions before an Installation to find out more information about all the required modules. For the hardware needed on each machine, see System Requirements.

Installing and using AccPacks requires zip packages called deployment packages. We use them to bundle plugins, configuration files, templates, and placeholders in a single package.

Most AccPacks use priint:bpm and object storage. You use them for import processes, MediaAsset images, and email delivery.

  • priint:bpm: the process engine used for import, delivery, and rendering workflows.
  • Object Storage: object storage used by Web2Publish and the FTP upload process.
  • Rendering Service: connects the Publishing Server with the rendering servers (priint:comet PDF Renderer or Adobe InDesign Server) to produce PDF output.

Creating your first Project​

As a prerequisite, an empty project needs to be created. Learn about the ISON application to create projects and to model your data.

  • ISON configuration: the configuration system used across all AccPacks, placeholders and data providers.
  • Publishing Server data model: entities, buckets, key values, media assets, context.
  • priint:comet projects: the project and entity structure in ISON Eclipse.
    • Placeholders: the connection between InDesign and the data source.
    • Data providers: data query, data mapping, and data processing methods on a placeholder.
    • Data processing: post-processing methods applied to placeholder output, such as HTML conversion.
